The smile of God
One day God came for a stay on earth. He intended to stay only one week and during His stay, everybody could have the benefit to come and visit Him and speak face to face with the Creator of the universe. But as God was a bit shy, He spent all His time in His office (at His desk), located in the heart of the castle where He was staying for some days, and to which, for access, you need to cross 3 anterooms.
Everybody naturally wanted to have a meeting face to face with God. Everyone had one million questions to ask to the suprem being, and everyone had thousands dreams to be fulfilled. Some had reproaches to address, and some have suggestions to give in order to improve the creation. A few were just curious to see the face of God, and check whether He had a white beard like Santa Claus. An angel stood guard at the entrance of the castle.
Anyone who wanted to be introduced and who asked to meet God, the angel took him towards the front of the first anteroom telling him :
-You just have three anterooms to cross. To open the doors, you only need to smile.
Then people arriving in front of the first door smiled but nothing happened. When they came back to the angel to get explanations, it was invariably answered : The doors are due to open thanks to the energy you unleash with your smile. If the doors don't, be patient and keep hope. People tried again and again, in vain.
So there were big dialogues and great study circles. The propaganda of angels said that anyone could ask for an audience to meet God and all the audiences would be granted without any kind of formality. This, at first sight, seemed true : one could come, ask to see God and the angel on duty took right away the people in front of the entrance of the anteroom, himself returning back. But it was obvious that this apparent simplicity was one kind of try it on with men, because in spite of the smiles, no door wanted to open. People actually said, God didn't want to meet anyone and this story of doors that would have opened with the smile was a courteous manner to refuse to receive people.
But a few angels joined and took part in the debates and succeeded to convince people that all was OK and that the true problem was that people apparently didn't know any more how to smile. Everybody have had big smiles even sometimes with white sparkling tooth. The angels explained that God gave no importance to physical smile and if the door didn't react, that was probably because people have displayed only an "enamel diamond" smile.
Angels were certainly right. People tried again but with no more result. It became obvious that one have to be very remarkable to have the chance to make the doors move. Days went on and the stay of God inexorably extinguished. It was a vital necessity that one people at least should pass the doors and meet God. A lot of people clearly realized that they were certainly unable to open these doors, but they had the conviction that there was at least one living people able to achieve this feat. People met again and they decided that the one who shall succeed to meet God, will have the mission, beyond the fact of asking on his personal affairs, to submit two questions to God in the name of all Mankind :
- How to liberate from suffering?
- How to achieve eternal happiness?
But who could succeed to have one meeting face to face with God?
Most people have tried many times, all failed and no one wanted to try again because each new failure nourished the growing feeling of humiliation. As nobody dared to put forward, people met once again in order to appoint those they considered to be the most advanced of all mankind.
After amounts of debates, three people were appointed : One Nobel Prize in Sciences, one Nobel Prize in Litterature and one Nobel Peace Prize. The first one was considered to be the most brilliant scientist on earth. The second one was considered as the most subtle poet in the planet. And the third one was considered as the greatest humanist on earth.
The scientist put himself forward the anterooms. He took one hour deep in thought, and then seemed to understand what to do. He remembered the intense and extraordinary intellectual pleasure that overwhelmed him the day he had made the discovery which later granted him the Nobel Prize in Sciences and then he smiled. And the miracle happened !
The door of the first anteroom opened fully. There was a thunder of applause. But when the scientist arrived in front of the second door, he was unable to make it move. He gave up because it was obvious that only the first door was at hand. He came back and the first door closed behind him.
People were very disappointed by this failure, but there were still two brilliant people to come into contention. Then came the turn of the poet...
